Julia Assante received her PhD in Archaeology and Art History of the Ancient Near East from Columbia University. She studied the cuneiform languages of Sumerian and Akkadian at Yale, taught at Columbia, Bryn Mawr and the University of Münster, and excavated in Crete and Israel. Julia is also a professional intuitive with four decades of experience as a past-life therapist and an Interfaith minister.

In her book The Last Frontier: Exploring the Afterlife and Transforming Our Fear of Death she combined the insights and methodologies from both her scholarly and intuitive work, presenting a rigorous investigation of consciousness after death. Her breakthrough interpretations of magico-religious rites have provoked revisions in the scholarship of antiquity.
